Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
We are a fully cash-pay clinic, so we do not accept insurance or submit claims on your behalf.
Payment is due in full at the time of service.
We can provide you with a superbill that includes all of the information needed to submit receipts for possible reimbursement from insurance. We do accept HSA and FSA cards for payment.
Reimbursement varies by insurance company and plan. Some insurance companies do not cover the cost of any functional medicine expenses, while others reimburse up to 100%.
Our providers will be considered “out of network.” It is common for insurance companies to include costs from our clinic towards your out-of-network expenses.
You can call your insurance company prior to your first visit to inquire about reimbursement.
Our providers get to know you as a person and not just a number!
Our appointment lengths are intentionally long enough to allow for relaxed conversations about what brings you to us, your symptoms, your health goals, and allow ample time for any questions you may have regarding testing and treatment plans.
Hannah and Melissa recommend custom health plans tailored to you and your health goals, rather than a standard cookie-cutter prescription or treatment plan.
Our providers are functional nurse practitioners, which means they can prescribe medications that may be beneficial to you.
Your treatment plan will likely be a combination of personalized supplementation, lifestyle changes, and if needed, prescription medication. You and your provider will discuss options for your treatment plan based on your lab results, preferences, and lifestyle.
We allot ample time to ensure your provider can thoroughly review your chart, lab results, and symptoms - and provide thoughtful, personalized care. While you may not always need the full time scheduled, the cost reflects the behind-the-scenes preparation and post-visit documentation that supports our high-quality care.
This varies based on your care plan, the complexity of your case, and your goals.
After your initial visit, your provider will give you a recommended frequency for follow-ups.
Typically, our providers recommend checking in about 6 weeks after your initial lab review appointment, and then every 3 to 6 months as needed. We aim to keep care both effective and efficient.
If your message requires your provider to review your chart, research a recommendation, or offer new guidance between visits, there is a $50 charge for 15 minutes of provider time to prepare the message.
Simple logistical questions, like scheduling and refills, are always free.
Unlike rushed visits you may have experienced in the past, your first appointment lasts 90 minutes. This extended time ensures your provider gets to know you as a whole person and understands a complete picture of your health, rather than just isolated symptoms.
You’ll cover your full health history, any lab work from the past 3–6 months, and your current symptoms and concerns. Bringing or uploading labs ahead of time helps us spot patterns and avoid unnecessary repeats.
Bring any recent lab results (within 3–6 months). If you’ve had testing done elsewhere, you can upload results before your visit or bring printed copies with you.
Our providers take a functional approach, which means we need details to find root causes. Instead of just asking if you have digestive issues, for example, we’ll ask how often you have bowel movements, if they’re painful or irregular, and whether you experience bloating or discomfort.
Be prepared to discuss:
Digestion — bowel habits, bloating, gas, discomfort
Sleep — falling asleep, staying asleep, waking rested
Energy — afternoon crashes, brain fog, sluggishness
Hormones — cycle changes, mood swings, monthly patterns
Diet & nutrition — foods that help or worsen symptoms, sensitivities, cravings
Stress & self-care — daily stressors, coping strategies
The more specifics you provide, the better we can understand the root causes of your health concerns and build a care plan that addresses them.
